Practice Areas: Domestic Relations & Family Law; Criminal Defense & Municipal Law; and Personal Injury

Erik, a German native, studied at the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science with honors.  Erik came out West to pursue his juris doctor at the University of Wyoming College of Law.  While attending law school, Erik joined the Legal Services Clinic and externed for the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center based out of the University of Utah for two years. While attending both programs, Erik developed a passion for criminal and family law matters.

Upon graduating as the clinic’s Outstanding Student of the Year, Erik had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Public Defender in Casper, Wyoming. While in Casper, Erik began representing clients in various misdemeanors (possession of controlled substances, interference, assault, battery, etc.) DUIs, and high-profile felony cases (homicide, attempted homicide, drug conspiracy, aggravated burglary, etc.) in the circuit and district courts. In an effort to couple his passions for family/domestic cases and criminal matters, Erik began private practice in 2014.  Since then, Erik joined the firm of Corthell and King, P.C. as a partner in January 2015, and continues to successfully represent clients from all over the country in their respective legal matters within Wyoming’s court system and in Federal Court.

Erik lives in Laramie with his beautiful wife, Marty, their daughter, and their two big dogs, Cole and Riley. When they are not in the office, all four of them enjoy hiking through Wyoming’s great outdoors.  Erik also enjoys presenting seminars to the community about various legal issues, contributing to news articles across the nation (such as the Vallejo Times-Herald), serving on community boards, and providing pro bono legal services to those who cannot afford an attorney through Equal Justice Wyoming.
